The agreement that finished in disagreement, even moves away more the one yearned humanitarian exchange and it put to the overdraft the differences of the two leaders. If I was president from Colombia…, without ignoring their utility and their importance, I don't name him as mediator.
Between Chávez and Uribe, as the old country song, “the distance among both is every bigger day.”
Colombia and Venezuela; in spite of the knots that unite them: historical, political, economic, geographical, social and cultural inherent, enough ingredients to be considered as countries siblings. However, from, Bolívar and Santander has always existed wrongly a hunted fight.
In the beginnings of the independence, after being acclaimed and applauded by their victory the political enemies of the libertador intentaron to murder it. Starting from then a series of litigations and verbal and polemic confrontations caused by the proximity of both countries and their bordering differences that have impacted exactly in the political, economic, geographical have taken place and of mobility and that they transcend, want you or not, in each side, causing tension in the diplomatic relationships.
But that express forgets the Colombians and Venezuelan, the common history that unites us, the jóvenes patriotas sacrifice and Creoles that lucharon frente to the armies settlers and they died indistinctly in territory patriot and granadino to reach the freedom of a single homeland, America, integrates and balanced.
A war among these two countries is almost impossible keeping in mind the sanguine crossing that exists among Venezuelans and Colombian. The men happen and the institutions remain, and of sure the good relationships will return, with, or without the shift leaders.
The history changes as the course of a river, and at the moment historical that both nations live, although neighbors, with an extensive frontier, and with a thick commercial briefcase, the Colombians are the only ones forced to solve the gibberish.
A mediator should be, fundamentally, negotiator, that is to say, a centered person, halfway, neutral, without turning toward the left or toward the right but looking forward to guess right in a negotiated solution: the humanitarian exchange, without taking out profit.
The political moment was not opportune; in Venezuela there is referendum for a new reelection. In Colombia also, obviously, would have their reaches, it is not known until you limit… now then, the political fact of next Sunday in the sister republic has its impact in the future political and economic relationships that you left to a strengthened Chávez and vitalicio or on the contrary the debilitamiento and beginning of the end of its command. We will see that it happens.
Undoubtedly that the sovereignty and the power are indelegable; if I was Uribe, it didn't distinguish Chávez although it was the most suitable to complete mediator's paper; the political differences that separate them are deep, philosophically they are opposed, as the water and the oil, and in spite of the effort that you make in the diplomatic encounters they are irreconcilable.
And the civil society that? To the Spanish philosopher, Fernando Savater, le preguntaron in an interview that said on the problem in Colombia, said simply that anything: if you that are those most affected ones are not interested, much less those of out.
The analysis of the facts non avizora a good symptom and the one on the way to return to the freedom of those kidnapped leaves farther. There is not bad that a hundred years neither body that it resists it lasts says the popular proverb, but this seems that will be prolonged for a lot of time.
God willing I make a mistake for not sacrificing the life and the freedom.
Sincerely.
