Antonio Socorrano acts as pediatrician in a small town of Colombia. He doesn't make a lot he examined a patient: a boy that suffered a problem of nasal secretion.
—It is always the same history - their mother complained -. It begins with a cold, the secretion acquires a greenish tone and then its hearings are infected. He is only two years old and it has already suffered four of these infections.
Socorrano examined to the small one again. Without a doubt, it was caught a cold, but their nasal fluid was clear, he/she didn't have fever and there was not inflammation in its eardrums. Neither indication existed some of a bacterial attack. Suddenly, when he gave their diagnosis, the mother it interrupted it:
—The only thing that impedes that they are infected the hearings they are the antibiotics. The other doctor prescribed them to him when beginning the cold.
—They work perfectly!. - she observed -.
—They are only a fight form against the bacterias... - he explained to him thoroughly the doctor -. The symptoms that their son presents are caused by a virus. He doesn't have infection of the hearings. Let us maintain it low strict observation and if it develops an infection, then, I assure him, we will go to them.
—The doctor sometimes prescribed them for telephone... - she emphasized.
—Good, it is probable that an antibiotic can prevent an infection, but it is also possible that he cannot make it. Until the aggressiveness of the germ it could increase, that which makes that the infection becomes a true hell. If it happens this way, we would have to appeal to medications very, very strong and injectable with quite annoying secondary effects...
For that moments, the lady had already listened enough:
—Don't care me! I know my son much better than you. I want the antibiotics... Now! - she Answered descontrolada, with authoritarian expression.
—Understand, please, I cannot prescribe them... - Socorrano Replied with stability -. I have to be conscious and for that reason I cannot prescribe them...
—Because, well, I will have to look for another doctor. A doctor that he cares children!.
