It is this way: after living so many years in this welcoming earth, ends adopting this culture and becoming in coastal.
At the beginning it was very difficult to try to maintain a conversation where alone it was listened: He/she ages and what!, what there is old man!, hey square!, quiubo key!, like voucher are!, stops to suckle rooster!, nojoda has h!, goad the donkey, Toss, ñerda, etc.,… But already today, they make part of our vocabulary, although the pronunciemos con the accent still something marked by our origin.
As he says the popular adage: “happier than cachaco in beach”… Clear, if the tropical breeze, the atmosphere caribe, the happiness that is breathed contaminates to the visitors, but in our case that we take here so many years that we have settled down and organized with our familias; nuestros children they have never been cachacos, they were born coastal, they are identified with this culture and they defend this earth like coastal. For that reason already neither we like that they tell us cachacos, we like to roam, parrandear with good vallenato, we enjoy her to us as if we were native of this earth.
Although we continue enjoying the male goat, the pepitoria, the aired meat and the mute, we already delight similar with an I parboil of guandú with salted meat, combat rice, coconut rice, mondongo and with all the typical delights of this earth.
We have given up many of our customs until some ingrained traditions to be integrated to this new form of life, much more calm, bearable, cheerful, expressive, characteristic of the coastal one; and we have surrendered to our city bigger value: our intense work capacity, working 16 hours daily included Sundays and traded, not alone for the sustenance of our families, but for the firm conviction that our work is an important link for the economic development of the ciudad.
It is this way, the Santandereanos, Antioqueños, From Bogotá, Tolimenses, all to those that know as cachacos in the city, have undertaken a trip without return to understand with the earth that saw us arrive, he opened us their arms and where have developed all our personal, economic and social activities.”
All and each one, willing to contribute our abilities, our potential: the recursividad, the zeal, the perseverance, the solidarity; on to the service of a city that we feel our, in the one that we don't recognize differences and for which we are willing to work with verraquera.
They are no longer worth the regionalisms, here all belong to a single community, it doesn't care the accent, the skin color or the origin city; what we are owes it to Barranquilla and as such we have rewarded with gratitude to the progress of this city: generating employment opportunities and participating actively in all the economic, social and political sectors and religious. Creating new companies, trade establishments, contributing with our taxes to the increment of the resources for works of the District.
We are present in many of those but important spaces of the economy: grocers, tradesmen, ferreteros, steel sector, hotel tourist sector, transport, textile and make, microempresarial; additionally we conform outstanding union associations of the country like UNDECO, it ROASTED, COTELCO, ASOPARTES, ASOCENTRO, etc… and in exercise of this union representation we make part of the different public and private institutions as EDUBAR and the CAMERA DE COMERCIO.
The cachacos llegamos to this earth with a suitcase loaded with ilusiones, y now has an entire full life of satisfaction; not alone for that achieved at personal level but to have propitiated all a “commercial condominium” that was born in Barranquilla with the arrival of those “cachacos.”
Then… for what reason to differ among coastal and cachacos? , if we all pursue oneself end, to provide a better city, a better place to live for our children and the future barranquilleros generation.
Let us remember whenever, UNITED, we are MORE.
